Some Minimal Reading

by Mike Vardy

Yesterday Brett Kelly unveiled a list of books that he suggests reading this summer, and while I’ve read a few of them I wound up adding a couple of them to a list of my own that I’ve been compiling. My reading has slowed in recent months due to my writing a book that I hope many of you will read, which sort of flies in the face of the age-old advice that “writers read”.

Sure, I’ve been keeping up with my RSS feeds and digest as much from social media and podcasts that my time allows, but I haven’t dove into a good book in a while. I’m looking forward to getting back into that now that the summer months are here. 1

One of the books I’ll be reading – and I recommend you read as well – is the compilation of pieces from my friend Patrick Rhone’s Minimal Mac weblog. Patrick has assembled some of his best work into an easy-to-read eBook dubbed Minimal Mac: What We Believe In for you to enjoy. I’ve long been a reader of Minimal Mac, and his other books (Keeping It Straight and enough) are among the best I’ve read.

Pick it up now and start your summer off right with a really, really good book.

1 Although it certainly doesn’t feel like summer up here in Victoria. June-uary indeed.
